comfort food.

I love desserts that are made with healthy ingredients and goodness. I've mentioned that my mom is fantastic baker before {and that I unfortunately missed out on her baking gene} and how lucky we are that she loves to make our favorite desserts. Well, i'm at home this week, on the mend, and my mom popped by for a visit with an entire cake, and my absolute favorite too, carrot cake. It's carrot cake heaven really, and my mom makes it perfectly with added pineapple, orange zest and juice, raisins and topped beautifully with toasted coconut shavings. Mmmmmm! A perfect treat.

Today I received the loveliest Cartogram, a little hello message from my monsieur, and it totally made my day! I'm loving these holiday vintage inspired Cartograms, too cute right? There's an app for everything, but I must say this is the prettiest app that I've seen.

My mister and I have our new dining table and chairs all picked out and i'm too excited to bring them home. I have visions of Christmas brunches and dinners {at our new dining table, yee!} dancing in my head. Here and here is how i'm dreaming things will look like come Christmastime at our house. How was your weekend? We started to decorate the house and turned on our fireplace for the first time this season. I must say i'm feeling quite festive! We went to IKEA to look for a new dining room set and seeing all their holiday decorations made me so happy. I didn't bring home my table and chairs {yet!} but I did stock up on my favorite Swedish treats!

Nobody likes a good book like my best friend Emma. We've been friends for over 20 years now (how time flies!) and ever since I met her she's been a bookworm. She reads about one book per week, and with two kids (Zoe and Quinn), a full time job and a home to take care of, i've no idea where she finds the time! Well, I asked Emma for a good winter book recommendation, and I asked for a list of her favorites to share on my little blog too. I hope you find it useful and inspiring, I know that i've adored her recommendations for all these years. Oh, and my winter read will be Sarah's Key: A Novel by Tatiana De Rosnay. My weekend seemed to revolve around the kitchen and yummy foods... hot apple cider, lotsa cheese and my last fix of pumpkin pie. Oh and I can't forget to mention that we woke up to snow yesterday too! Not that i'm ready for winter just yet, but aren't first snowfalls the prettiest?
