weekend bits.

Why did the Duck cross the playground? Answer: To get to the other slide.

I read this in a Vermont grocery store during a trip last month and it stuck. Actually shopping in the grocery stores in Vermont made me think about food in a different way, it made me question where my food comes from and what does it stands for. I'm so happy that we've been making an effort to buy more local ever since, it really feels great supporting small farms rather than the big factory farms.

My mom also recently gave me a great cookbook and so far i've made two delicious recipes, Moroccan meatballs with couscous and Thai mango chicken with vegetables. Both were complete hits with the family, healthy and delicious, love that.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

  3. beautiful! i love the muscovies they are beautiful ducks( although most peopl think their the opposite). buying local and even directly from the farmer is a great way to feel better about what you are eating. small local farmers market are the best way to get to know you food source and if you befriend them you can get even fresh greens and such in the winter time!

i will be moving to vermont, feel free to come by for some eggs!

  9. Bonjour mon amie! Your photos are lovely! Like you, I make an effort not to eat processed foods and stick to yummy whole foods. If you have access to Aussie cookbooks, Stephanie Alexander's Kitchen Garden Companion, is great. She cooks lots of tasty meals from the garden and has implemented heaps of educational programs here with kids.

Enjoy holding down the fort while your hubby is away! I'll be doing the same in a couple of weeks and will be expecting a nice bottle of red too!!

I'm living wedding drama over here trying to find a venue!! No luck yet :) Fingers crossed I'm lucky over the next couple of weeks.

  12. I started buying local without thinking about it...just didn't want mass-produced food, and wanted good quality items. So I completely agree with you on your stance on local food purchasing.

  16. we could learn a lot from those wise ducks hey?! all fun, all the time...sounds like a plan. i have always dreamed to visit Vermont; ever since i was little and watched Bing Crosby & Danny Kaye dance it up in White Christmas. i bet it's so lovely there, are they particularly conscious of their food choices? i love how you've brought this sort of awareness up and i'm attempting to make healthier meals from where the fields and farm friends roam free.

this cookbook looks good too, Sean recently had a high cholesterol count, he's such a friggin' meatarian..i'm working on him though! thanks for the photo share, your photography always takes my breath away. happy almost weekend! xo ♥
